Students will use hypothesis tests to determine whether data in groups come from populations with different means.
Students will be given a dataset consisting of two groups of data. They will need to:
carry out statistical hypothesis tests to determine if the data in the groups are normally distributed
use the t-test (if normally distributed) or the Mann-Whitney U test (if not normally distributed) to determine whether group means are different
Students will also be given a separate dataset consisting of multiple groups of data. They will need to:
carry out statistical hypothesis tests to determine if the data in the groups are normally distributed
use ANOVA (if normally distributed) or the Kruskal-Wallis test (if not normally distributed) to determine whether group means are different
